LAU Gives its International Students a Warm Welcome

Gearing up for the start of the fall semester, the International Services and Programs Office welcomed new international students from the US, France, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Italy and Portugal, who will be joining LAU as exchange and study-abroad students. Taking part in the SINARC Arabic Language and Culture Program, they will benefit from cultural activities, trips and culinary experiences, in addition to their regular courses.

Graduate Studies and Research Prospects Available for LAUers in Germany

In partnership with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Office of International Services (OIS) at LAU hosted an information session about available scholarships for graduate programs and research opportunities in Germany. DAAD Regional Director Benjamin Schmaeling presented to a full house of LAU faculty, staff and students on Beirut campus.

International Collaborations Continue

With more than 50 partner institutions across the world, LAU fosters and seeks out exchange and training opportunities for its faculty, students and staff. Recently, an LAU delegation visited Freie University of Berlin for an Erasmus+-funded mobility to exchange expertise and explore possibilities for collaboration. The group included Drs. Brigette Wex, Hussein F. Hassan, Hussein Hassan and Elias Akoury from the Natural Sciences Department, Dina Abdul Rahman from OIS and Joanna Fayad from AiW.

TLS Students Published in Al Raida

A special issue of Al Raida, the flagship journal of the Arab Institute for Women, features research policy papers by 15 undergraduate students of the LAU Middle East Partnership Initiative-Tomorrow’s Leaders Gender Scholars Program (MEPI-TLS). The papers cover a plethora of timely topics in gender studies such as women’s labor, heteronormativity and gender inequality in the workplace.

LAU MEPI-TL Alumna Releases Her First Poetry Book

The LAU MEPI –Tomorrow’s Leaders Program celebrated the launch of Life Between Parentheses, a collection of inspirational poems by LAU MEPI-TL alumna Larissa Kassis, in the presence of Shawn Tenbrink, MEPI Program Manager at the US Embassy, Beirut, and Dina Abdul Rahman, director of International Services at LAU.
